Japanese chemical carrier owner returns to Norwater!

Japanese owner Sansho Kaiun installed a Norwater NWC3-60/48 on their newbuilding no. 612 at Asakawa Shipbuilding end of 2015.

Following their positive experience onboard “Southern Owl” over the last half year, they have in April returned to Norwater AS for another 4 identical systems for their newbuildings at domestic shipyards. Norwater is proud and happy to see that an increasing number of chemical carriers find our solution for low-ppm freshwater as the preferred solution for tank cleaning onboard. 2 systems will be delivered in June 2016, one in June 2017 and the fourth in December 2017.

The 2007-built Eidesvik Subsea vessel “Acergy Viking” will go through a conversion project at Westcon yard in Norway this summer. The vessel is being prepared for a contract with Siemens in Germany. As part of this project, a 20-ton capacity Freshwater Maker will be installed.

Norwater is very enthusiastic about adding another major Norwegian owner like Bømlo-based Eidesvik Offshore to our reference list for our new NWE-series.

Delivery is June 2016 and this brings total number of systems to 47 for 2016-delivery, as of end of April.

Norwater has recently been awarded the contract to supply freshwater makers system to each of 3 newbuildings for Torvald Klaveness.

The Oslo based shipowner has a series of 3+3+3 x 83,500 Bulk- / Combination Carriers under construction at Jiangsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding in China.
Each of the vessels will have a system generating 100 tons of freshwater per day, less than 50 ppm water quality for special cleaning requirements.
Engineering prevails immediately and deliveries will be done second half of 2017 from the workshop in Norway.

Østensjø has over the later years been a regular customer of Norwater. Their latest newbuildings in both Korea and Norway are equipped with Norwater and in March Norwater was nominated by Astilleros Gondan as supplier also to Østensjø’s innovative unit that will perform maintenance operations on Race Bank Offshore Wind Farm in the United Kingdom, for the charterer Dong Energy.

Scope covers a system generating both potable (20 tons per day) and technical water (15 tons per day). Delivery agreed is end 2016.

The first two months of the year have been very hectic and successful for Norwater AS. In total 24 Reverse Osmosis Freshwater Maker systems have been sold and 110 units of NorBarrier SB4 & SB5. Norwater AS’ orderbook has by this grown to 25MNOK by end February.

Following the Odfjell deal end of last year, a similar batch of deliveries has been awarded by Team Tankers International in Denmark. Yet again the NWC3-60/48 has been selected as the preferred option for the production of water for cleaning of tanks on chemical carriers. Adding to successful deliveries to two other Team Tankers ships recently, TTI has ordered 17 more in February. Norwater has also been appreciated by clients in the home market. Both Kleven Verft and VARD Brattvaag has secured delivery slots in Norwater’s 2016 production program.

We are especially enthusiastic about being selected as supplier to a newbuilding for the salmon industry in Norway (“Brønnbåt”). The vessel will have two systems with a total production capacity of 720,000 litres per day. With this contract Norwater has secured a reference and foothold in a new and very attractive market. This is of course very satisfying considering the current slowdown in the offshore market which has represented a major part of Norwater deliveries over the years.

The month of January has been very hectic in the workshop of our subcontractor Maritim Service. A total of 12 systems are planned to leave the workshop during this period.

With an all-time-high output of 42 systems in a year in 2015, this number obviously is very high. The ongoing production and deliveries are for the following customers: Odfjell, Triyards, Kawasaki, Dalian.

This shows the increased capacity and flexibility Norwater AS can offer our clients together with our subcontractor Maritim Service AS.

The end of 2015 has been very encouraging for Norwater AS in terms of new contracts.

A total of 23 new systems were sold, implying full activity in production throughout 2015 and well into 2016.

Main contribution came from a single contract for 18 x NWC3-60/48. For this contract Norwater will provide a turn-key solution, including installation and commissioning. Customer is Odfjell and through this order they will increase their total number of NorWater systems to 25 across their fleet.

Seadrill has added capacity to their rig AOD2 through the purchase of one NWC3-60, second of the kind onboard.

MAS Shipping in Jordan has ordered one NWC3-60 for their livestock carrier “Taiba”.

Through V-Ships’ management, Team Tankers’ vessel “Sichem Croisic” will have a retrofit of 1 x NWC3-60/48.

Finally, Myklebusthaug Management AS has chosen to retrofit 2 units NWE3-15 on “Dina Star”, a MT-6015 Multi Function Offshore Support / Platform Supply Vessel.

Norwater AS is this week exhibiting in the bi-annual Maritime- & Offshore exhibition Kor-Marine in Busan, South Korea.

The week kicked off Monday with the traditional Gina Open, golf tournament hosted by our agent Gin-A for their various Principals. Norwater this year sponsored the t-shirts, enabling 3 teams with different color. In the end it was the Red team that appeared as the winning team, after a close run with the team White.

The exhibition is over 4 days from Tuesday Oct 20 until Friday Oct 23. Norwater AS is part of a joint booth arranged by our agent, sharing space with several other companies such as Harding, MMG, Maritime Partner and Techflow Marine. It is not that often that Norwater gets customer visits for the FAT of the products. Last week however, we had visitors from CIMC Raffles and OJV Offshore in Sweden.

Norwater AS is supplying 3 x NWC4-80 for their H307, CR600 Semi-Submersible Accomodation Rig and testing was undertaken Wednesday last week.  Truly satisfied the 3 Gentlemen could leave the workshop following one full day of testing.

This week we get another client visit, when Triyards come from Singapore to inspect the products intended for their H5301, 2 x NWE6-25. This is the first of two ships in a series of DP2 Multi-Purpose vessels (V4830 design) at Triyards in Vietnam. Owner of the ships is Ocean Energy Ventures, subsidiary of MDL Marine Holdings.

Norwater AS has experienced an increasing demand for rental solutions lately.

To accommodate this in a best possible way, a subsidiary has been established with the name “Norwater Rental AS”.
